I began my involvement with the real estate business early in my career. Upon graduating from the University of Oregon, I was immediately hired as the in-house leasing manager of a groundbreaking and successful urban renewal project in the Old Town of Portland, Oregon. I worked directly under Bill Naito, the visionary developer who is credited with resuscitating much of the old downtown area in that city. The responsibilities were wide ranging and a great introduction to real estate.
After completion of a major downtown development project I decided to leave Portland and the real estate profession and I returned to Los Angeles, where for the next twenty-plus years I launched then ran a successful women’s apparel design & manufacturing business. I loved the creativity of the fashion business and enjoyed the challenges of building my own business. I traveled often to Asia and Europe over the years. As the company grew so did our list of clients. I was frequently negotiating seasonal contracts with Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstroms and other quality North American retailers. In 2000 I began to look at things differently and I thought it time to make a change. So, in 2001 I returned full circle with my move to the Beverly Hills offices of DBL Realtors.
As a devoted environmentalist, I’ve taken an active part in conservation and education efforts towards sustainable living and in community projects. In 2009, I completed the construction of an AIA award winning LEED Platinum home in Venice, California. I used this experience to educate both myself, and others about the many aspects as well as the merits of environmentally sustainable building construction. I am a founding member as well as continuing board member of the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market and I enjoy working with others and devoting my efforts toward creating projects with lasting value that enhance peoples lives.
In addition to developing my own design build project, I have had the opportunity to represent a number of new construction projects from residential family homes to multi-unit condominiums. I regularly consult with developers and homeowners on the implementation of sustainable design and believe my informative style and understanding of the design-build process in tandem with my business acumen, design background, and diverse experience provide a valuable breadth of knowledge and perspective to home buyer’s, builders, and sellers.
